Description
GMA copper/aluminum sleeves are designed for connection of copper and aluminum conductors. Since copper has higher conductivity than aluminum, the conductors of two different geometrical sizes should be joined together. The GMA sleeves enable fulfillment of this specific task. Size of the copper and aluminum conductors to be joined is identified by sleeve marking. First figure in the sleeve designation indicates to cross-section of the copper conductor, the figure following the division sign – to cross-section of the aluminum conductor. For example, GMA-16/25 sleeve can be used for connection of 16 mm2 copper and 25 mm2 aluminum conductors. The GMA sleeves are fitted with a cap on Al side that protects the sleeve inner part from formation of oxide film, which affects the conductivity of sleeve and cable joining area.

Advantages
- The cross-section of the connected copper or aluminum conductors is determined by the sleeve marking. The first digit in the marking indicates the section of the copper conductor, the next after the sign of the fraction is the section of the aluminum conductor. For example, cartridge GMA-16/25 allows you to connect the copper conductors of 16 mm2 and aluminum conductors of 25 mm2.
- GMA sleeves on the aluminum side are equipped with a cap that protects the inner part of the sleeve from the formation of an oxide film that adversely affects the conductivity of sleeve and cable conjunction.
- All sleeves of the GMA series undergo mandatory testing for fracture at the junction of copper and aluminum - this determines the high reliability and quality of products.
Design Features
Copper and aluminum parts of the sleeve are interconnected by friction welding and provide a contact of metals at a molecular level.
The design provides a juncture of a lower cross-section between the aluminum cables and copper while maintaining the current load.
